About

The National Veterans Legal Services Program (NVLSP) is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that veterans, active-duty service members, and their families secure the government benefits they have earned. The organization provides free legal services through individual representation, class-action litigation, and its Lawyers Serving Warriors® pro bono program. Their core service offerings include:
Disability & Benefits Claims Litigation: Represents veterans in legal appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims (CAVC), the Board of Veterans' Appeals, and VA Regional Offices—including specialized assistance for burn pit and toxic exposure claims.
Military Discharge Upgrades: Assists service members with applications to upgrade less-than-honorable discharges or change stigmatizing narrative reasons for separation.
Special Compensation & Retirement: Helps veterans apply for Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC), military medical retirement benefits, and Traumatic Injury Protection (TSGLI).
Advocacy & Legal Training: Publishes legal treatises (such as the Veterans Benefits Manual) and trains pro bono attorneys and veterans' advocates nationwide to strengthen legal representation for former service members.
